Brunnenhof – Chardonnay Alto Adige – 2019/20

Brunnenhof among its different labels, gives a clear signal of interpretation of Chardonnay giving it a strong Altoaltesina identity. This white wine is made from grapes from a vineyard (Muhlanger) at an altitude of 250 metres with excellent south-westerly exposure on rocky terrain in an alpine climate. With a low yield in which the best bunches are selected, they are fermented at low temperature in 500L barrels after a soft pressing, the ageing is carried out in used 500L tonneaux for 10 months. The result is a wine that speaks for itself, with a very rich bouquet of floral notes and hints of exotic fruit blended with an incredible freshness and pleasant acidity that enhance the minerality typical of the wines of this area.

Description

Alpine paradise and land of great high altitude wines, this is Trentino Alto Adige, made up of heroic viticulture and stories where the cult of wine has always existed. The Brunnenhof-Mazzon family has been living here for 200 years and started the business in 1999 with Johanna and Kurt, husband and wife, taking the reins of the company. The estate, literally immersed in the mountains, is the true synthesis of the quality that we want to convey. It is located at around 400/450 metres above sea level with 5 hectares of vineyards distributed around excellent exposures where Pinot Noir, Lagrein, Gewurztraminer and Chardonnay are grown. Benefiting from a harsh climate with impressive temperature fluctuations, the vineyards derive a fantastic freshness which, together with the sandy and mineral soils, create wines of the highest quality. Theirs is a vision of preserving nature as a base, which is complemented by interpreting the vintages and the purity of the grape characteristics through “control without intervention”. Undoubtedly a small company with great achievements.
